This week in class we learned about the concepts of copyright and fair use. Copyright means that the original creator of something (music, art, literature, etc.) has the exclusive right to that thing and if someone else wants to use it, they must get permission from the creator. It is a legal right of ownership. Fair use is the ability to use a small portion of copyrighted material without needing to seek permission from the original creator. In my classroom, I would introduce my students early on to services like NoodleTools (so that they can cite their sources in essays and projects) and Flickr (so that they can use images with more relaxed copyright rules).  One of the biggest issues I think has come from technology implementation in the classroom is how much easier academic dishonesty has become. If students are given quizzes and exams online, and the ability to take them at home, than there is no way to regulate if they are using the internet or other means of looking up answe...

I remeber being in Second Grade and going to a computer specific class. We definitly got familiar with tools like Microsoft Word as well as Microsoft Powerpoint. I also remember growing up, I would play around on the desktop computer in my parents' bedroom and just learned the ropes of these services. As I grew up and moved into middle and high school, I started to use Google Docs much more. The reason I think this standard is so important is because teachers can also be in the process of learning at the same time as their students. They have to grow and adapt ...

"Florida Panthers"  by Ines Hegedus-Garcia  licensed under CC BY 2.0 My name is Cristina Kopels. Welcome to my blog! I am a sophomore from Boca Raton, Florida and my major is Special Education Teaching. Some of my favorite things to do are going to the beach, finding new books to read, and learning how to cook new recipes. Recently I've become a fan of hockey, specifically the Florida Panthers and got to go to a game over Christmas break. I have enjoyed my time at FSU so far and cannot wait to see what new skills I learn in this class.  I feel like throughout highschool and my time in college so far, I have used technology in educational settings. I took a class last semester called EDF1005: Intro to Education and used a lot of different online resources for projects in that class. For example, one project was to create our own lesson and teach it to our peers. A lot went into creating the lesson. I used PowerPoint, found online handouts, and looked to Youtube for inspira...
