Blog #10
There were many new skills that I gained from working on Assignment 5: PowerPoint Interaction. One example of a new skill was using action buttons! One part of the assignment that was more difficult was not using linear navigation; usually in a PowerPoint, the presenter can click with their mouse through the slides. Ensuring that there were action buttons on each slide so that users could properly navigate it was something I kept in mind constantly. I also was not familiar with sound effects so that was a fun skill I gained!
I think there are many ways that teachers can implement data collection, especially surveys, in the classroom. I know that I will be a Special Education teacher so one type of survey question I would talk ask about is allergies or learning accommodations so I can make sure that my classroom is as comfortable as possible. I know that I want to work with children in grades 3-6, and I feel like students these ages can be more vocal and can give their opinions on my teaching. I would definitely take advantage of data collection throughout my teaching career.
From looking at my classmates' blogs, there was so much that I saw that I found interesting. On one of the first blogs we ever did, we had linked the newsletter that we made at the beginning of the semester. I really enjoyed seeing how everyone's newsletters were different from each other because they truly showed the creativity of my classmates and how we would go about creating them for our future classrooms.
I don't have any experience with the Tech-Flex Challenges and the Digital Badges. I just have chosen not to take advantage of them as of right now. I think they are a great incentive to keep working and to continue to gain new technological skills from the class. The challenges look fun!
A new technology-related skill I would like to master next is how to use Qualtrics! I know that our next assignment relates to that so I am excited to learn how to create a survey using the profile. I have heard from many sources that Qualtrics can be pretty difficult to navigate. In order to combat this, I plan on looking up youtube tutorials, using the internet for help, and reaching out to my teachers and classmates.
