When looking at the various ELA Matrices, I decided to choose third grade. The reason I picked that level specifically was because, at least for me, I remember starting to really implement more technology into my schoolwork and assignments. One standard that stands out to me is standard LAFS.3.W.2.6. The basic idea of the standard is that students should be able to create writing, (like essays, poems, short stories, etc.), using technology with the aid of adults. They should also be able to collaborate with others. I would say that I would be able to help students with this standard. I feel pretty confident to navigate certain programs like Word or Google Docs in order to help them refine their writing skills.
Staying on track with the 3rd Grade, I decided to look at the CPALMS tools for 3rd Grade English Language Arts. One tool that stood out to me was LAFS.3.RI.2.6. It states that students should be able to write about a text through their own perspective different than the author. I think this tool is important because it shows that students are able to form their own opinions and think more critically about the texts that they are reading. It also shows them that having your own opinion is okay as long as you can back it up.
When it comes to internet searching there are many tips and tricks that can help you find the right information. If I was going to write a research paper and I needed information on dolphins, Google Scholar is what I would recommend. It provides me with articles and websites from trusted sources. Another way to enhance your searching online is by using the "advanced search" feature on Google. It provides certain parameters for your search including: exact words or phrases and words you do not want included in the search. You can even use it to narrow down your search by language, time, and location.
